JOANNA SOUTHCOTT’S COVERLET      Friday 11 & Saturday 12 January     
Two Days        $140.00                               Machine pieced and hand or machine applique centre.

This is a reproduction English medallion quilt made originally by Joanna Southcott in the 1800s.  It is a great way to utilise that beautiful piece of fabric you have tucked away in the broderie perse centre.  Also a great stash buster for all of those reproduction fabrics you have been collecting.
TEA CADDY PARADE                                             Monday 14 & 21 January

The original “Tea Caddy Parade” quilt has a gorgeous piece of fabric in the centre and an equally gorgeous applique border of an exotic parade – elephants, giraffes, oxen, dancing girls, soldiers, animals and much, much more. Join Linda in this two day workshop to learn how to make your own parade. Whether you want to replicate the original quilt or customise it to your own design, Linda is there to provide all the assistance you need.  Small pattern fee will be charged.

A WING and A PRAYER                  Wednesday & Thursday 16 & 17 January

The symbol of an eagle is often found in American antique quilts. This quirky quilt is fun to make and the large appliqué shapes and bright fabrics make the sewing go quickly.  Sarah won her category at the 2011 Sydney Quilt Show with this wonderful quilt.

 Make this beautiful Welsh style medallion quilt with Lynne.  It is a quick machine pieced quilt with minimal appliqué.  Make it with the beautiful rich colours Lynne has used, or use your own favourite colours.


KANTHA PEACOCKS, PARROTS & PAISLEYS      Saturday 19 January  
One Day         $70.00                                                    Hand Embroidery
We are lucky again this year to have Marg Light back with some of her beautiful Kantha embroidery inspired projects.  You will learn the basics of Kantha style embroidery and come away with a lovely and useful object. In this workshop, students will learn the traditional stitches of Kantha embroidery and how to work the background stitching in the field of the fabric. These are mostly variations of running stitch and simple filling and interlaced stitches, all worked with stranded cottons in vibrant shades.

The two designs will be supplied on sufficient silk broadcloth fabric to make up a mobile phone pouch and a glasses case. Comprehensive notes will also be supplied.  NB additional costs for the silk broadcloth apply.

AVIGNON                                                                  Tuesday 22 January

 With colours inspired by a trip to France, Avignon features machine pieced “ric rac” strips and a funky machine appliquéd panel. Learn the tricks of piecing ¼ square triangles, fabric placements in a design, fudging the maths of the strips. This quilt can easily be adapted to larger sizes.

We have just received confirmation that Marg is able to join us again this year.  Marg will be teaching one of her new designs, Birds Eye View, in her inimitable style.  You won’t be disappointed as you may also receive a short lesson on hexagons as well.  A workshop packed full of fun, fabric and surprises.
DRESSMAKING FOR QUILTERS                         Tuesday 29 January

Join Anne for her ‘Kwik Stiks’ pull on pants in a day workshop.  You will produce a comfortable, custom fitted pair of pull on pants.  Create a wardrobe of fabulous original looks from this simple pattern.



SMARTY PARTY                                                      Wednesday 30 January

How much fun can you have with fat quarters? Loads in this class with Michelle Marvig. Featuring machine pieced backgrounds and pieced, machine appliquéd circles, the exuberance of the centre blocks extends into the borders. A raw edge machine appliqué features in the centre of the piecing. No need to be afraid of circles any more.

EMBROIDERY EMBELLISHMENT TECHNIQUES      Thursday 31 January             
One Day         $70.00                                                       Hand Embroidery
Come and join Kirsten from Prints Charming and learn different embroidery techniques.  You will use one of their screen printed panels which you can then turn into the centre of a quilt, a cushion, table runner or simply frame your finished masterpiece.  We have the panels and the Perle 8 or DMC stranded threads in stock in the shop. 

FUSSY CUTTING HEXAGONS                                     Sunday 3 February                  
One Day    $70.00                                         Hand Piecing

This is the ultimate class if you want to create fabulous hexagon quilts.  Learn the art of fussy cutting to create a beautiful secondary pattern.  This is a skill you will be able to use again and again.  Join Suzy for more hexagon madness!
