What's Happening

Hi Everyone

Sorry for the "gap" in postings, but the Quilt Show and year end got the better of me.

I realised that we have a lot of Classes, Workshops and stuff coming up that I need to let you know about.  So this post is really all about catching everybody up with what is happening.

So please scroll through the post as you never know what you may find.

WHAT'S NEW

Quite a lot, here is a selection.

Irene Blanck's new book "Focus on Applique", not Irene unfortunately she is not for sale.

This is my second block of our "New Hexagon" Rosette of the Month.  Call the shop for details.

New 1930's.

Zen Chic.

Cotton & Steel.

NEW CLASS

We are thrilled to announce that Rhonda Pearce is joining our team of regular monthly teachers.

You may know Rhonda from her shop Post Office Patchwork up in the Blue Mountains, which she has recently sold.  So she now has time to teach her wonderful interpretation of traditional quilts.

Rhonda's class is the second Thursday of each month, starting in August.  We have few spaces left.  please call the shop to book your place.

STUDIO Q - HANDSEWN

I'm very excited about this.  We have been asked and asked to have a regular sit & sew for hand work only.  Also a number of you who are doing our New Hexagon ROM or playing with the Millefiori EPP (that's English Paper Piecing for those not up in the new terminology) Quilts have asked for a support group.  So here it is.

This will be a casual group, (no sign up contracts), no booking required.  You can use all the classroom facilities, the design walls the cutting table, etc..  Meet other "hand" quilters, see what they are up to and share ideas with each other.  This is not a class, you bring your own project,

Once a month, on the third Friday of the month, Studio Q - Handsewn will be happening. 10 to 3.The cost is $25.00.

I will be in the room with my latest hand work, and to help where I can.

Our first Studio Q - Handsewn is Friday 21 August.  See you then.

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS

JUDY NEWMAN

YOUR CHOICE

These are photos of Judy's Emma Mary Quilt.

Due to popular demand we have Judy coming up from Melbourne to do two, two day weekend workshops.

 Saturday and Sunday 29 & 30 August; and/or
Saturday & Sunday 31 & 1 October/November

You can choose any of Judy's Quilt patterns to make.  Bring along any quilts you have started with Judy before and need a hand with.  These are just two days of workshop bliss with Judy.

LORENA URIARTE

OPAL ESSENCE QUILT

Lorena is teaching her beautiful Opal Essence quilt.  I saw her quilt hanging in the Modern Quilt Guild display at Rosehill earlier this year and knew we had to have a workshop.

The optical illusion in the quilt is amazing.

One day workshop Saturday 26 September.

Please call the shop for further details and to book any of these workshops.

NEW SERVICE

HAND BASTING

Yes you read that correctly, we now have a hand basting service available.

I am really happy to welcome Basting Away Again, operated by Kate Knight, to Quiltsmith.  You can drop off and pick up your quilts from the shop.  Kate will contact you with costings etc.

So drag out those tops you need basted.

That has caught you up a bit with what is happening at Quiltsmith.
