Fussy Cut Friday 17

Hi Everyone

I'm back from the US with a some new things spinning around in my head.  It is always good to see new things.  The quilt exhibition at Houston was magnificent.  I only saw about 12 quilts I just need to make ...before I die.  Maybe, if I get the time.

A lot has happened in the last week or so finalizing our Summer School Workshops for January next year.  The full Summer School list is in the previous post so just scroll down and see what tempts you.  Warning some classes are already full.

AIRING OF THE QUILTS

Sunday Afternoon Alert.

We are Airing the Quilts this Sunday afternoon.  What could be better on a horridly hot day (if the weather forecast is right, they appear to have today right it was 35 c outside) than sitting with lovely ladies looking at everyone's antique quilt treasures, in the chill of the air conditioner. We still have some seats available.

Airing of the Quilts starts at 1.30 for a 2.00 o'clock start.   Please ring the shop so we can cater correctly.  Cost $15.00 and bring any quilts you would like to get out of the cupboard.

FUSSY CUT STARS

Here is this week's selection.  Janet has just announced that she has made enough stars for her project,   So we may start to see how she is going to put them all together.  I'm still making my stars.

See you at Summer School if not beforehand.

Fussy Cut Friday 16

Hi Everyone

Welcome back to Melinda who's returned with some great stories from her visit to Houston and other quilty places in the US.

WHAT'S NEW

Our latest Fabric Collection, is Community by Howard Marcus for Moda.  It's part of the "Collection for a Cause" series that has been incredibly successful over the years, and besides that, it's just gorgeous.

NEED YOUR QUILT QUILTED?

How's this for a reaction!!! You too can feel this good when your quilt top is finished by one of our two long-arm machine quilters!

Another reason Jen is so happy could be that her quilt is "Kew Gardens", one of our Block of the Month quilts. It's a delight to have the fabrics and instructions just come through the post each month.

We have several different BOM quilts running -  you can see them all on our web-site.

Just call, join on-line or come in to the shop and we can sign you up to start straight away.  Melinda has some new BOM's up her sleeve, so be ready to be inspired.

SUMMER SCHOOL IS COMING

We've been having a lot of interest in our January 2015 Summer School.

We will post the classes next week so stay tuned...................

FUSSY CUT STARS

I know that you know that I just love these little things already, but these stars are just getting better and better.  Each one delights and produces oohs and aahs!  Such fun.

(Sue Ross has started putting in her 'fillers' - is that a technical term? - to make her stars into hexagons. I've seen them on a design board - delicious!)

See you next week.

Hi Everyone

WHAT'S NEW

Even though we've been having the "While the Boss is Away" sale, there has been little playing going on by the mice.  We've been wonderfully busy and there are gaps in the shelves.  But don't worry, they're being filled again as we speak.

CLASSROOM ACTION

We've had the wonderful trio of Marg Sampson-George, Karen Cunningham and Val Moore teaching in the shop this week with Anne Sommerlad coming tomorrow.  How's that for the stars aligning with amazing talent?!  We have vacancies in some of our classes so call us to find out more on 9550 4947.

Here are some photos this intrepid reporter managed to snap during sale-time cutting and folding....

And so you know, there are over 700 little 'grape' circles in this beautiful broderie perse quilt!

FUSSY CUT STARS

One of our wonderful customers wandered in today with this magnificent work-in-progress. I just had to share it here as stars are definitely one of our passions.

And here are a few of our own from our ever-growing collection.

CHRISTMAS TIME IS COMING

I know you're either right into getting yourself organised or, like me this year, denying that December will ever arrive. The questions will soon start to come, and the comment will be heard - 'You're so hard to buy for!"  No, no, easily fixed with a gift voucher from Quiltsmith! Just hint gently.  It works.  I know!!!  (Tell your loved ones to give us a call on (02) 9550 4947).

AND DON'T FORGET SUMMER SCHOOL IN JANUARY!!!

Sale finishes at close of business tomorrow - that's 4.00pm on Saturday 8 November 2014.

See you next week.
