Spring is in the Air

Hi Everyone

We had a taste of Spring in the last few days, it was lovely to be out of the coats and enjoying the sun on your face.  It's cold and rainy again now but at least Spring is in the air.

WHAT'S NEW

Very excited about this.  Irene Blanck has kindly lent me her "Stepping Stones" quilt top.  Pictured below.

There is a story about this top.  It is a copy of a circa 1940's quilt top that was for sale at the Houston Quilt Festival.  This top was charming.  I looked at at for two days in a row, will I buy it or not.  On the third day I went with my Visa card but it had been sold to Irene.  We had a laugh about it over dinner and she said I could display the "version" of it she wanted to make.  True to her word Irene's beautiful top is in the shop now.

She has reinvented the top using today's retro fabrics.  I have started my own version.

Quiltsmith has had acrylic templates and papers made for this pattern.  So for lovers of English Paper Piecing this is sooooo much fun.  We have had a great time putting together some starter packs for the top.

We have starter packs that have the templates and small packets of papers, Irene's pattern, and ten fat eights of fabric, to give you a starting palette.  This is a great stash buster as it is very scrappy.  We are also selling the templates and papers separately.  We have starter packs channeling these looks:- Retro (like Irene's), Farm Girl Vintage, Classic 30's, we have designer packs of Jen Kingwell's and Camille Rosekelly's fabric.  We are in the process of putting together some reproduction packs now.

Starter packs are $70.00.  Please call the shop if you would like one.  We sold some before we even had the packets sealed they look so nice.  Try to get into the shop to see Irene's top while we have it.

Cloverdale is in.  Wow is all I can say.

Just cute

  1. Hey Melinda
I too went back and forth to Mary Koval's booth trying to make up my mind. I'm so glad I snapped it up before you - ha ha!! It was such a fun quilt to make as I went through my stash and picked any and all sorts of fabrics - wanting to make it as bright as possible.
