We had our second Airing of the Quilts on Sunday with some more beautiful antique quilts brought in by our friends for a show and tell and casual discussion about their provenance and thoughts as to when they were made.
There were some absolute beauties. Here are a few.
I immediately wanted to go home and start cutting out scraps and making this beautiful honeycomb block scrap quilt.
A really pretty pink and green one block applique coverlet.
An exquisite example of 1870s Victorian crazy patchwork which was dug out of a mother-in-law's cupboard. There was no explanation as to why it hadn't been handed on previously, but thank goodness it was! The blue edging and backing was added later to preserve the patchwork.
A simple but beautiful nine patch on point topper...the photo does not do the colours justice. They were well preserved.
More soon.
