Hi Everyone
WHAT'S NEW
New French General fabrics, 40 of them. Michelle Yeo, teacher and author from Melbourne likes them. She is visiting the shop today, as tomorrow Michelle and I are off the Norfolk Island for 10 days. Michelle is the tutor at this year's Quilt Norfolk. I'm going to help carry the fabrics!!!
Michelle is coming to Quiltsmith for three days of classes at the end of July. All details will be revealed when I'm back from Norfolk. Ring the shop (02 9550 4947) if you would like to go on the Expression of Interest list for Michelle's classes (25 - 27 July).
JAMBEROO UPDATE
I went down to Jamberoo, last Monday, as promised. Things are happening. Here is a photo of how the rooms will look, and the bathrooms. (Remember it is still a construction site, but I liked what I saw.)
The brown is gone.
ANNE'S TRIPLE TREAT RETREAT
Last weekend I was up at Blackheath, in a wonderful shroud of mist and drizzel, so nice after all the humidity in Sydney, that just carries on and on this year.
Anne Sommerlad invited me to be one of the trade tables at her inaugural Retreat. I want to congratulate Anne on one of the best run events I have been to. About 70 lucky ladies (next year your challenge is to get the men sewing) were treated to three days of intensive skill learning workshops.
Here are some photos. I will apologize now, the light in the hall made all my photos go a strange green. It wasn't like that in the hall.
Anne take a bow. Anne teaches regularly at Quiltsmith.
This is Anne with Rachel and Petal, who also taught, with the Rotary team who kept everybody feed and watered in great style.
A daily raffle raised a significant amount for Interplast (who I must admit I have not heard of before). This is a Rotary supported not-for-profit organisation, which sends Australian and New Zealand medical teams into various locations in the Asia Pacific, to perform life changing surgery on people with disabilities as a result of congenital or acquired medical conditions such as cleft lip. The power of quilters is incredible, well over $1000 was raised.
CLASS ACTION
Next blog will have all my Norfolk Island play stay.
