Michelle Yeo's Quilts are in the Shop Now!

When I went to the Post Office on Tuesday, these were waiting for me.  They are just beautiful, Michelle.  Everyone who can should drop into the shop to see these quilts, and book in for the class (of course), June Long Weekend.  Details of the classes are in our last post.

Love opening parcels like this.   I took some close ups of the quilts for you.

The Fairholme Quilters Show

Last weekend I had the pleasure of being at the Fairholme Quilters bi-annual show at Thornleigh in Sydney.  Here are some photos.

This quilt was voted the "Best Use of Colour".

This was the "Viewer's Choice" for the show.

The Fairholme Quilters had the most interesting "Paint Chip Quilt Challenge".

Sneek Peek of new "Kew Gardens" BOM on the wall, more details with my next post.

WHAT'S NEW
Finally the John Hewson fabric has arrived.  This fabric is under license from the Winterthur Museum for Andover Fabrics.

If you are an antique quilt buff, you will probably recognise the panel below.  John Hewson is recognised as the first person to print fabric on mainland America.  Caught up with the Revolutionary War with Britain, when fabric production was banned in the America.  All textiles had to be imported from Britain.  Think of the Boston Tea Party, and you are in the right era.  Just think of beautiful chintz quilts, and this is the fabric.

Also Kim Mclean's new Pandemonium Quilt Pattern should be in the shop next week.

APPLIQUE PROJECT NO. 3 UPDATE

Flower Garden

Over the Easter break I took advantage of the empty classroom.  I thought I had most of the blocks made.  Then I laid them out in position on the table - maybe half done. Oh well.

I mentioned that I have been scouring my stash and collecting more fabrics for this quilt, so my palette has expanded.  This quilt requires a lot of fabric.

I filled in all the missing blocks, and selected the fabrics.  Now I have my next few weeks sewing organised.

The table looked like this, much better.  I can start worrying about the sashing now.

Here are some more completed blocks.

Happy Easter Everyone

The short week has caught me short.  So I'm spending Good Friday in the shop.  One of my first tasks is to blog.  The shop will be closed for the Easter break.  It will re-open on Tuesday 10 April.  I hope everyone has a relaxing and safe Easter, and gets at least one quilting project done over the break.

We are starting to get packed to go to the Fairholme Quilters Show that starts Friday 20 April.

Here are the details, Quiltsmith has been a vendor at this show quite a number of times.  We always have a great time, lovely people and quilts, but the cakes are always terrific.  If you can make it to the show, please say "Hi".

I have fallen in love with Art Gallery Fabrics.  The depth of the colours and just the handle of the fabric itself is enough for me.  These fabrics are bright and fresh, without being totally in your face.  They work perfectly in both patchwork and in clothing.  We have had all our Art Gallery Fabrics mixed up in Funky Fabrics - Lucky Dip on our web-site.  So you can see and find them more easily I have created three new sections on the web-site just for Art Gallery Fabrics.

These are:-

Funky Fabrics - Art Gallery Fabrics (prints)
Fabric Palettes and Batiks - Oval Elements (blenders)
Fabric Palettes and Batiks - Pure Elements (solids)

We will have the complete range of both Oval Elements and Pure Elements shortly.

Here is some of our Art Gallery Fabrics being cut to go to the Fairholme Quilters Show.

Below are our bolts of Oval Elements, possibly one of the best modern blending fabrics.

So please have a look at the fabrics on the web-site www.quiltsmith.com.au and see what you think.
