Lately Arrived From London has docked.

Just because so many customers have been waiting for this beautiful new Collection from Barbara Brackman, I thought I would post that it is in the shop now.  Hopefully it will be loaded on the web-site in the next day or so.  This is an early 1800 collection featuring large chintz flowers.  It is beautiful.

I would be quick with this one, the staff may buy it all before it hits the shelves.  Not all of these fabrics are from the Collection but we were building wonderful quilts.

In this post I thought we could have a look at Val Moore's class.  She teaches here on the first Friday of every month.  We have vacancies in Val's class at the moment.  This is the first time this has happened in about four years.  So if you would like to conquer applique, and can make it to class, please call the shop.

This is Val's "Symbols of Japan" quilt, that is currently hanging behind our counter.  I think it wins a prize for having the most customers rush around the counter to have a closer look.  It is all machine appliqued.  So you can enjoy the quilt I have some close ups.

Val is one of the best applique teacher's I know.  She teaches both machine and hand applique.  Here are  some of the things being created in her class.

Back in our April 28 Blog, we saw the first Gnome block for Aileen's quilt.  Made with Anne Sommerlad.  She has now finished the top, and it still makes me smile.

Lovely Day at the Wentworth Quilter's Exhibition

Last Saturday,  was the perfect Spring day, sunshine, no-coat weather and a Quilt Show to investigate.  Who could ask for more.

The following are pictures of quilts that took my fancy at the Wentworth Quilter's Exhibition.  there were plenty more quilts I liked, but the blog would be too long if I included them all.

Annie from Hatched and Patched was at the Show.

Well done Wenty Quilters.

Spring Fabric Explosion

Spring has arrived and with it a flood of new fabrics. These are some of this week's boxes.

Girls who work in quilt shops don't need to go to the gym.  This is our style of weight training.

So what has arrived?  Here is a selection.

This delivery was mostly reproduction fabrics, but a few cute fabrics have arrived in Funky Fabrics.

Here are some beautiful bolts of fabric with an English flavour.  Love the bees.

Carrying on with the "English look"  here is Savannah, by Sara Morgan for Blue Hills Fabrics.

This fabric is the perfect to use in Judy Newman's very popular pattern "Museum Medallion Quilt" pictured below.  It has the impossible to find bright Spearmint Green colour that was popular during the late Victorian period.  Judy has used a similar colour in her original quilt.

Judy Newman is coming up from Melbourne, and we are thrilled to announce that she will be teaching a one day workshop on the Museum Medallion Quilt. She will be concerntrating on fabric selection and going over contruction techniques used in the quilt.  She is bringing with her a number of Museum Medallion quilts in a number of different colourways.  So it will be a mini-exhibition.

Judy will be teaching on Saturday 22 October, 10 - 3.  Please give the shop a call if you would like more details or to book a place.  02 9550 4947.

Then we had the Jo Morton Collections.  Yes, two full Collections by Jo Morton arrived on the same day!!!

For all of you who are thinking of making a Red and White quilt check out Varitey.

The winner of the week however is Elizabethtown.  Absolutely classic Jo Morton mid-1800's prints.

I photographed them still in their plastic, because you needed to see them.  They do look better without it, the colours glow.

The next French General fabric Panier De Fleurs, is expected to land in the shop on Monday.

We will try to have everything up on the web-site in the next few days.

Our new BOM - Friends of Baltimore, is now up on the web-site, so if you are ready for the challenge just contact the shop or order on line.
